The Golden Key is a relaxed cottage-style dining pub dating back to the 1600’s, just tucked away from the main road through the beautiful village of Snape. Alex and Oliver Burnside took over the running of The ‘Key’ in July 2017 and strive to offer their customers a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, exceptional service and traditional ‘pub’ dishes done well. We believe in celebrating local, seasonal produce and playing a central role in the local community.
The Golden Key is packed full of original character, beams, open fires and quirky details which make it a fantastic pub to visit, any time of the year. With two ensuite rooms situated above the premises (one of them being dog friendly), we’re also the perfect place to stay that’s conveniently located to nearby Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Orford, Framlingham and Woodbridge.
Alex and Oliver also run another pub in Snape, The Plough and Sail, located at Snape Maltings.

Fish ‘n’ Chip Friday! Join us every lunch on a Friday for a choice of cod, haddock or our guest fish of the week – served with chips, tartare sauce and a drink – includes a pint of bitter, small glass of house wine or a soft drink. Only £11!
We are having a new extraction fan built so The Key kitchen will be closed until mid February. However, the pub will be open Friday evening from 5.30, Saturday from 12 all day and Sunday lunchtime. We’ll be serving drinks as normal and snacks including sausage rolls, soup, crisps and nuts. We will still be running events and themed evenings – more info to follow! Apologies for the inconvenience.
